Granada Weekend
This past weekend I went at 3am saturday morning to Granada. When me and megan first got there, we saw the Sierra Nevadas as I was still sleeping on the bus, incredible, I knew that it was going to be a weekend full of nature. When we first got there, we had some bomb coffee to wake us up from our 5 hour bus ride and went to Gyatris house, she was the best host, gave us so much food that weekend, let us sleep in her bed, etc. We got ready to go to the Alambra. I liked all the incticate details as well as the Arabic feel. There are many jardins in Spain, i love slowly sstrolling through them. I’ve noticed that I walk slower in Spain, i’m not in a rush to go somewhere all the time. It is nice, I feel that even though I still need to work on living in the present, not constantly trying to get to my future destination is helpful as well. The palace of Narizth was truly amazing, it was where all the old Arabic sultans used to live when they ruled Granada. After we took a long siesta, i had really good sleep. At night we just drank wine and gyatri took us to a bomb Moroccan tapa bar, where I tried tinto de verano and when you order one drink, they bring you a free tapa, i had a potato w/spinach and cheese, and kus kus. Ahhh so good, i took the menu too hehe. After we went to a reggae club called “Afrodesiac” where outside I met a flamneco guitarts from Seville who went to Humboldt as well as this guy who gave me free weed (who spoke so many languages cause he knew how to change his accents really well) and told me don’t thank me, thank the weed gods. turns out that weed got us into a bit of trouble cause when we got back to the partment we went to smoke it out of gyatris portugal pipe on the terrance and locked ourselves out with no one home and rice boiling. thank god she finally kicked open the door. the spanish police took forever to come and “help us” they kept saying “pasa nada” when we had water boiling what a joke. The next day we went to the sierra nevadas which was so incredibly beautiful even through it was raining. The snow capped mountains were visible in the distance. We definetly pushed our limits as we decided to climb up this huge mountain just to get a better view and then were scared when we realized how hard it would be to get down so we just started climbing higher and higher. and we ended up sneaking into someones house with parking dogs just to get to the other side but thank god it was where we supposed to take the bus at! We went back into the bar we asked for directions for at first and got some amazing hot chocolate. I really enjoyed being with Gyatri, we had such amazing talks and I really like her personality, she is the same kind of traveler as me, will talk to anyone and always lives by the saying, “you only live once” :) Granada is definetly one of my favorite cities in SPain. I got my mom here a arabic painting and I got three besos for it:) That made me happy. The day I got back we went to Elche for the intercambio, which was fun:)
Now I’m sitting in my room, studying for Friays exam. I’m so excited to go to London!!
